This devotion which appeals to a good number of the faithful and is recommended by Pope John II & Pope Benedict XVI is usually for the reparation to God for past sins.
The devotion is also a response to Jesus' plea in the Garden of Gethsemane, to "come pray with me one hour?". The consistent belief of the Church is that Christ is present in the Eucharist; Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity.
Suggestions to do during adoration are to meditate, read the Scriptures, read spiritual books, spend some quiet time or pray in any manner that deepens your love for God.
It is customary to show reverence to the Blessed Sacrament by genuflecting on both knees, but health may prevent one from doing such a practice.
