The Sewing Ministry

The Sewing Ministry is more than sewing:

• Give comfort to the ill through prayer blankets
• Provide beauty to the church
• Teach those willing to learn to sew
• Be willing to wash, iron or cut

The Sewing Ministry have made the banners hanging in the Narthex these past few months and have made the Faith Formation and Parish Social Ministry banners as well as the JOY banner hanging in SMH along with many other items the parish uses.

Prayer Blankets

What is a Prayer Blanket?

Small lap size blanket that is given to someone in need of comfort.

These blankets are blessed at mass each month.

Prayer blankets can be given to: Nursing home residents, soldiers, hospital patients, those who are ill, some one who has lost a loved one, or whomever needs the comfort of prayer.

Volunteers help wash, iron, tie, make tags and sew the blankets.

Different people do each step in prayer.

Blankets are in the Narthex on the Social Ministry table for you to tie a knot as you say a prayer. Stop by the table before going into mass.

Children can trace their hand and write a small prayer on the construction paper that will be attached later to a blanket.
