As you prayerfully consider supporting our Building on Our Foundation for the Future campaign, we hope you will reflect on what St. John Vianney means to you. Ask yourself, “If not me, then who?”
Goal #1 has been met!
Goal #2 has been met!
Goal #3 needs your support.
Goal 1: Purchase of Parish Activity Complex – First $1.4 million (met!)
The first priority of the Building on our Foundation for the Future campaign is to pay the Diocese of Austin for the buildings and land they purchased for St. John Vianney in 2012. The purchase included the 14,000 square foot building that is now the Parish Activity Center along with the two buildings that are being used for religious formation, hosting parish meetings and social gathering for parishioners. In addition to the buildings, the purchase included the adjoining 2.5 acres that help complete the St. John Vianney master plan for the next decade. The diocese paid $1.4 million dollars for the property and has been collecting interest only payments from the parish over the last year. Upon full repayment to the diocese, the parish will focus on improving these spaces to best serve the parish needs.
Goal 2: PARKING LOT EXPANSION – Next $200,000 ($1.6 million total)
In order to make efficient use of our Parish Activity Center, we will construct a parking lot connecting our beautiful church to the Parish Activity Center and adjoining office spaces. The parish has most of the funds needed to begin work on the parking lot that is estimated to cost $475,000. However, an additional $175,000 is needed to complete the project. The increased costs of the parking lot are due to the fact that the St. John Vianney campus rests above the Edwards Aquifer, the primary source of fresh water to Central Texas’ growing population. Specific and costly remediation efforts are required to protect this essential water source. As stewards of our community as well as our faith, our parish will work with the proper authorities to ensure safe drinking water for our families and our neighbors while building this necessary linkage for growing campus.
Goal 3: ENHANCE PARISH ACTIVITY CENTER – All funds raised over $1.6 million
Upon completion of goals one and two, we will begin to enhance the space within our Parish Activity Center. Our new space offers a tremendous opportunity for the parish to enhance its ministries and grow as a community. Parish leadership will meet with diocesan officials at the completion of our active campaign solicitation phase to determine the next steps. The repurposing of the space will be approached systematically with consideration given to current parish needs, the long-term vision of the parish and funding available. The proposed renovations include:
• Air conditioning
• Restroom facilities
• Religious education classrooms
• Parish hall
• Parish offices
