The Meals Ministry
The Meals Ministry delivers cooked meals to parishioners:
This ministry also supplies some food for a funeral dinner.
The spiritual joy from being part of this ministry comes from the willingness to lovingly cook and bring food and to another in need.
Many times a family that is in need of food is relieved that they do not need to worry about cooking as well as all the other duties of caring for a family member who is ill or trying to recover from surgery, a birth or an illness.
Jesus’ miracle of the Loaves and Fishes shows us that when we come together to share our gifts, talents and treasure with others for the common good of all, there is more than enough for all to receive.
As a parish family, we too are called to share what we have with our St. John Vianney family. In last week’s gospel, Jesus tells us:
“For I was hungry, you gave me food, thirsty you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me…. Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least of my brethren, you did for me.”
(Matthew 25: 35-40)
