The Quinceañera ceremony is a traditional celebration of life and gratitude to God on this occasion. The Quinceañera is not a sacrament but offered as an act of thanksgiving for her life and her baptismal call to holiness. It is also an opportunity for the young woman to publicly express her commitment to the Catholic faith and discipleship. Here at St. John Vianney, we hope to make preparation a prayerful experience. The goal is to allow the young woman to draw closer to Mary and Christ through prayerful preparation.

Since the Quinceañera is not a sacrament, quinceañeras are celebrated (as a group of young ladies) in a liturgy of the word (not a mass) to allow for these beautiful Thanksgiving celebrations to be celebrated by a priest or deacon. 

Quinceañeras Services and Blessing:

• Services are held quartly (on the months of February, May, August, and November) at 10:00 AM in a group.
• The service is in the Main Church and the cost is $500 per family.
• The service will be a Liturgy of the Word service with either a priest or a deacon based on availability.
• Also, a special blessing at the end of a Sunday Mass is an option (free).

 Quinceañeras requirements:

• Be a registered and active parishoner of Saint John Vianney for at least a year.
• Must be baptized and have made her First Communion.
• Regularly attend the Religious Education program for a minimum of 1 year.
• Be enrolled in the confirmation program (if the sacrament hasn't been received).
• The daughter will attend at least one of the Youth Ministry retreats (Either the Confirmation Retreat or DCYC).
• Attend Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation.

• Parents and the court are required to attend the rehearsal.
• The court size is limited to 7. 
• The rehearsal will be on the Friday before the ceremony. All Quinceañera participants must attend. What is decided at the rehearsal will be final and will not change on the day of the Quinceañera. The Court, Damas and Chamberlains as well as the godparents will not enter in the procession. Only the parents and the Quinceañera will enter in the procession.
• The day of the Quinceañera, all must arrive 45 minutes prior to the celebration. 
• Photographers and Videographers should be positioned prior to the Quinceañera and should not get in the way of the celebration (They should not get on the steps of the sanctuary nor should they be in the center aisle).
• The only decorations that will be allowed are flowers in the sanctuary. No bows or anything else hanging from the pews.
• All guests must dress appropriately! (no spaghetti straps, strapless, low neckline, or open dresses). If someone does not come properly dressed they will be required to wear a covering.
